May 2nd
Hello everyone,
How has everyone's week been? Mine was full of many different things
for sure. Last Monday was good...we didn't really do much last p-day.
Tuesday we had exchanges for the first time and I was kinda nervous to
be with someone new for a whole day. Our sister training leaders are
pretty nice though. I went with Sister Stout and it was a good
experience. She thought my Spanish was amazing for only 2 and half
weeks in. She was really nice and we do exchanges every transfer I
guess. I got to go out to her area too which is North Sac. It's a
really nice area. Wednesday morning we played frasketball with some of
the elders in that area too...it was way fun! It's a mix of
basketball, football and frisbee. It's a made up game by missionaries.
It was really a lot of fun. When I came back to my area I felt a lot
better and missed my companion. We went up to El Dorado Hills where
it's really super fancy and nice and tried to see a girl but she
wasn't home. Then we came back to Rancho Cordova (our area) and taught
Alejandro who we invited to be baptized this month and he wants to! He
was suppose to come to church and was planning on it but his work
called him in so he couldn't come, but he doesn't want to work on
Sunday's anymore and is gonna have those days off from now on
️ he is
such a good guy and our lesson with him was so good. Then we had a
lesson with a girl named Kimberly who's 9 and she's a recent convert.
The whole family was in on the lesson this time and this never
happens! We showed the He Lives video and we invited them to come back
to church because they're inactive.
Thursday we had our district meeting as always and it was really
good! We talked about teaching through the Book of Mormon and asking
questions of the soul to our investigators. So later that day we drove
out to Folsom which is only in our area (the Hermanas) and we found 4
new investigators and passed out 4 Book of Mormons! It was a great day
and it was awesome finding some new people! We taught a guy named
Acencio that night and he's getting his kids taken away so he just
talked about that forever. It's a really hard time for him right now
Friday was really chill. Our service was helping set up for this kids
festival thing at a park. It was fun and we got to talk with some cool
people. We did weekly planning which takes like 2-3 hrs to do. We set
goals and make plans for this week so it's nice. That night we ate at
the Lopez families house and they have 4 little girls and they're so
cute! They give me hugs and tell me I'm their best friend haha.
️
after dinner we went to help clean the church with some families in
the ward and it was a good time! There's a girl in the Solorzano
family named Nidia and she's awesome. She's 17 and is super chill.
This week when we go to her house for dinner I'm giving her and her
mom a makeover because the mom is obsessed with my eyebrows. Haha.
Saturday we had our meeting with the ward mission leader Hermano
BolaΓ±os and he brought us pizza which was nice. Then we went to
service with some other Sisters from the Goethe Park ward. We didn't
really have much to do there but we tried to build a table but failed
lol
then we tried seeing 1 of the investigators that we found on
Thursday but they ended up just not wanting us to come anymore.
it
was really upsetting but it just happens sometimes. Then we came back
home and made a real dinner! We made my families chicken wings that
we'd make back home. I'll add a pic to show some proof. We never
really make a dinner because we don't have a lot of time but we did on
Saturday. They turned out so yummy and I felt so proud haha.
Sunday was good too. It was fast Sunday and so we went to go see
these guys after church and we were standing on the porch outside for
so long that I almost fainted because I was super dehydrated. It was
scary. We checked the temp in the car and it was like 95 degrees!!
Wow. We can't even imagine what it's like in the summer lol.
then
we ate dinner at the Limas house which was super good and then Bishop
Bair invited us over to their youth break the fast and to watch meet
the Mormons. Then he had us share our testimonies about missionary
work. It was a good time.
So it's super hot in our house now because the air conditioning is
broken☹️ Anyways, things are looking up here and I'm loving my comp
more and more every day. The Rancho Cordova area is awesome and I hope
to be here for a while. This week there's a lot of pics and funny
stuff. Our zone is awesome and we take a pic together every transfer.
This group is awesome and so diligent in the work. Me and Hermana
Woodbury had some down time so we made a video. Here in the
Sacramento, CA mission we like to create videos of us and having
others try to do a parody of it. So we did. Watch the elders first and
then ours. It's better side by side but it was fun to make. Our
mission is fun, I love the work! Thanks and love you all!
Mucho amor,
Hermana Scott

Hola from Rancho Cordova!
Well this week was full of a lot of stuff going on...bad and good.
Let's talk about Cesely and Amaris. They're 9 and 10 and they're whole
family is less active. They were invited to bed baptized a few months
ago but the mom said that they weren't ready yet and to wait a little
longer. So we've been teaching them everything again and they are
definitely ready to be baptized. So last Monday we stopped by and
taught a lesson and asked them about baptism. They both want to get
baptized on different days! We asked the mom and she thinks they
are ready now and likes the idea but needs to have a discussion with
the whole family ππ the grandma does not want them to get baptized
but we're praying that they will make the right decision so that we
can be firm on the dates!
Tuesday was just not a good day for me. I just was feeling really
crappy and just not in the mood for anything. I think it was the work
and everything, but I kept pushing through and tried to stay positive
as best I could. We got to teach a girl named Lupe who is 13. She
lives in an area called Folsom and only us sister Spanish missionaries
get to go over there. We taught the Restoration and it went really
well! Then we taught her again on Thursday about the plan of salvation
and that went super well! We talked about baptism and she's so excited
to be baptized already! CRAZY! We couldn't stop smiling we were so
happy that she wants to be baptized so soon. But we couldn't put her
on date because she's under age and we have to get permission from the
parents, but Lupe said she talked to them about us and they're whole
family is super supportive and hope she sticks to this religion! It
was such a great day! We hope it stays this way for her.
Wednesday's are always one of our busiest days. We taught a lady
named Marta out in Folsom and she didn't seem too interested when we
taught her the Restoration so next time we meet her we're gonna ask
her a lot of questions. She's super sweet though she taught us how to
make molΓ© and gave us a huge bag of dried cranberries. Me and Hermana
Woodbury went to the temple to take some pictures because it's in
Folsom and one of our appointments cancelled on us so we had some
extra time. I got some good ones! I can't wait to go inside some
time...hopefully soon! That night we had dinner with the Solorzano
family in our ward and I did the daughter Nedia's make up for her. It
was a lot of fun and I miss doing my friends make up, so it was good
practice! The mom wants me to do her eyebrows this week when I come
over ππΌπ our members are so awesome and chill with us I love it.
They teach us how to make stuff and it's awesome!
Thursday we taught Maria in Folsom who cancelled on Wednesday and
she's been taught for almost a year! And she still isn't baptized! I
told Hermana Woodbury that she needs to keep her commitments and truly
have a desire to be baptized or we can't teach her anymore. It's sad,
but it just wastes our time if Maria doesn't want to change. It's been
way too long. So we had to read with her the first chapter in the Book
of Mormon and we talked about faith. We expressed to her that she
needs to have a desire to change and keep our commitments or we can't
teach her anymore. She says she still wants us to teach her so we'll
see. If anyone has any suggestions for her that would be nice!

Friday we had a Zone training and it was really great! We talked about
How to Begin Teaching and it helped me a lot and we realized that we
need to do this better and ask good, inspiring questions. Then we had
service at the food bank. I love doing service there because I always
feel so good helping the homeless people and families. It's always so
sad though to see them and I just want to give them all the food.
There was this lady with this Muslim lady and she was trying to help
her get her food because the Muslim lady didn't speak English very
well. I was wearing my Southern Virginia University sweatshirt and the
helper lady was like "IM FROM VIRGINIA!" Haha so we talked about how I
went to school there and she was so nice she shook my hand at the end
and told me that she loved me and that she was grateful for my
service. People like that always make my day.
Saturday we had weekly planning and then found a new investigator
named Ana. She was nice but we don't know how interested she is. We
also saw a less active family that our bishop told us to go see. She
was nice and let us in and we showed her the Hallelujah video. Talked
about Christ's atonement and invited her to church. I got s letter on
Saturday though and it was from the New Haven YSA from back home and
it just made my whole night ❤️☺️ So thank you YSA friends for sending
me that it was so nice!
Sunday was great...besides the fact that all 8 of our investigators
that we called to invite to church who said they would come DIDNT SHOW
UP. I hate that, but it's gonna happen a lot I know. But, we were so
excited to see some of them there. It was really sad but it was a
great day at church! We got a little flower bouquet and chocolate from
the primary kids.❤️ then we came home and ate lunch. Then, I got
to Skype the family!!! It was so awesome and weird at the same time to
see their faces and hear them talk. I miss them all so much and it was
the last time I'm gonna see my brother before he goes on a mission
☹️π Hopefully I'll get to Skype him for Christmas thoughππΌ Many
exciting things are happening.
Jordan's almost done with his mission papers and he just has to meet
with his bishop and stake president! I'm so excited for him too. I
wish that the skype calls were longer. But, it was nice to see
them and just talk about mission life.
Well I hope you all had a wonderful Mothers Day and got to celebrate
how wonderful our moms are! I love my mom and am so grateful for her
love and support. She has helped me through thick and thin. Thanks
everyone and have a good week!
