September 5, 2016

Hello everyone!
I hope you all are enjoying your Labor Day weekend! 😊 Not too much
went on this past week so I'll keep this pretty short.

We've finally have started using Facebook now and it's definitely
different! For me it's been a little tough trying not to see the feed
of everyone else, but I know that I'm getting better at it. But, we've
been able to use it to communicate with our investigator Felipe. It's
been so nice just to send him a quick message and have him reply back
instead of having to call Hermano Bolaños. We got to video chat him
yesterday as well to set up another appointment for today👍🏼 We're
still getting used to using it...but I've seen so many miracles with
using this great tool to proselyte. Something that I love as well is
that when I share a post, every one of my friends on Facebook can see
it. That's the great thing about Facebook is that whoever you're
friends with can look at that post...and who knows? Maybe they'll want
to learn more about the church? 😄

So Felipe's baptism is this Saturday!!! We are so excited for him!
He's also really excited. I'm so glad that I am part of his conversion
story and how me and Hermana Justiniano found him and taught him. It's
been such a miracle to teach such a kind, smart kid who's ready to
make this covenant with our Heavenly Father! I'm so blessed to be able
to teach him and see his testimony of the gospel grow! I know that the
baptism will be special and I can't wait. I have the opportunity to
sing at his baptism as well so I'm excited for that😄

Guillermo has been doing so well! He's been pretty sad lately do to
his loss, but every time we come and teach him he cheers up and is so
receptive to the spirit. I remember first teaching him and it was SO
frustrating because he would never let us talk...but now he always
tells us to continue or to teach him something if he goes off topic.
He catches himself so he's progressing really well! We invited him to
read Alma 40 about resurrection and life after death and he actually
read the whole chapter! We only asked him to read a little bit because
he has trouble reading. He also loves to pray now because before he
wouldn't ever pray. I've seen his progression and I know he has a
stronger testimony. He's now on date for baptism for the 24th of
September. We are excited and pray that we can find him a good ride to
church.

Everything has been good though so far. I hit my 6 month mark on
Friday! I'm so grateful that I've made it 6 months so far already.
Time has flown by, but I know that I've learned a lot these past 6
months....only 1 year to go!!✌🏼️😄 I'm so happy to be on my mission.
My testimony of the gospel has grown so much! Good luck to my brother
Jordan as he leaves for his mission on Wednesday. I'm so excited for
him! Hope you all have a fantastic week!

Con mucho amor,
Hermana Scott

August 29, 2016
Hello Hermanas y Hermanos,
This week has been a little crazy with the new Facebook and
everything. It's been pretty stressful too. But, exciting
news...Felipe is officially on date for September 10! He's going to be
baptized! He got his interview yesterday from Presdient Martinez and
he is ready for baptism! We are so excited for him and his decision to
follow Jesus Christ and be baptized. We as a companionship set a new
goal for September for 3 people on date. We have faith that 3 of our
investigators will get baptized next month😄
The Andasol family is doing well. We went back to the beginning and
taught the Restoration to them again. They really felt the spirit this
time as we showed the clip of the Restoration to them. Nmanuel enjoyed
it a lot and wants to do the same as Joseph Smith by asking Heavenly
Father which church is the true church. That's what we believe is
holding them back right now is that this isn't just any church...this
is the church of Jesus Christ of Later-Day Saints. The true church. So
we testified to them of our testimony of the gospel and invited them
to pray as Joseph Smith did. Unfortunately they didn't come to church
on Sunday like they said they would, but tonight we're going to have a
lesson on The Sabbath day. I believe it'll be a good lesson with them.
Please pray for this family that they can recognize the blessings of
this gospel in their lives.

This past week we had zone training and it was pretty much on Online
Proselyting. We received training on how to use Facebook and what
we're capable of doing with the application. We watched a bunch of
videos on it too and so on Saturday night we had to clean out our
Facebooks. This was very stressful for me because I've had my Facebook
for about 9 years...so that's 9 years of memories I had to delete.
Every picture was deleted. Every post I've ever made had to be
deleted. Everything on my timeline is gone and it was sad but also
very good for me. It made me realize the things that are important to
me and things that aren't. It kind of was like a "new start", so I'm
glad that it's all clean. It definitely was weird being on Facebook
after so long and it's still weird too. But, I'm excited to put this
new tool to use to help our investigators come unto Christ.

So overall I guess not too much going on this past week. I actually
got to see my "mom" Hermana Woodbury this past week so we took some
pictures😄❤️ Something that I really enjoyed this past week was
reading all of Jacob in preparation for the zone training. I really
love this book of the Book of Mormon. I learned a lot about myself as
a missionary and what I need to do to help our my investigators. I
invite all of you to read Jacob and let me know what you learned from
it. I'd love to hear your insights! Well, I love you all and hope your
week is wonderful!

Also, since I do have Facebook now, please refrain from messaging me
personally since I will not respond. I do encourage you all who are on
Facebook to share your testimonies and comments that relate to the
gospel on things that I post. This will help encourage our
investigators and help our members out as well! Thanks so much
everyone! Te amo!

Te quiero mucho

August 16, 2016

Well Hello everyone,
So, transfers happened and I'm staying another transfer in good ol'
Rancho Cordova❤️❤️ Me and Hermana Justiniano are staying together and
we're so excited for what's to come! By next transfer I will be here
in Rancho for 6 months! It's crazy to think how much time has gone by!
I'm excited for this next transfer because of what's to come. I'm
excited to celebrate my birthday here with people that I know too❤️ We
had to say goodbye to our beloved roommate Sister Hyde...she's going
to Carmichael and is going to be an STL! I'm so excited for her and I
miss her already❤️ Also, Elder Ortega left as well and will be missed
in this area! He was here for 7 months! We took a final 4 pic on
Sunday! He's going to El Dorado serving as a district leader in
English! So proud of him!

So pretty much it's been sort of a tough week for us. We now have
nobody on date because Satan got to our investigators. It's been hard
for sure but we keep pulling through. Of course they have their own
agency, but it's sad to see them not have that desire anymore. We had
a lot of lessons with Felipe this past week but strongly feels like
he's not ready to be baptized. We were wondering why he felt that way
because from the beginning he felt very ready to be baptized and so
excited. We ended up having a discussion with our ward mission leader
who is the foster dad of Felipe right now and found out something very
personal about Felipe that he didn't tell us. So now we just have to
show him how much we love him and care about him. Please pray for
Felipe that he can have the courage and the strength to act on his
faith. He has that desire to be baptized but is scared. Please please
pray for him.

So with Luis we are deciding to pass him off to the Spanish elders. We
still have to get permission from president but we feel strongly that
he'll be better with the elders. Luis actually came to church again
yesterday and it was great to see him! We didn't even remind him about
church and he came all by himself! He definitely has that desire and
the faith but needs that confidence and that testimony of the gospel.
The other day we had a lesson with him and the elders and Luis
wouldn't answer any of the baptismal questions. So we're are still
working on him. He needs to gain that testimony and belief before he
can get baptized.

Our investigator Guillermo is doing well. He has a new cast on his
foot so it can heal better because his other cast was from Mexico and
wasn't helping at all haha. We signed it and colored it all pretty for
him. He has a strong faith but isn't in good health condition right
now. Please pray for him that he can feel better. We got to take some
great pictures with him the other day and he's so funny! We call him
our abuelo(grandpa) all the time. 😂 It's gonna be hard for him to
come to church for a while because of his broken foot. Also, he only
has 1 tooth and his smile is the greatest 😂 We love him so much!

The Andasol family is doing just wonderful! We're gonna give Samira
and Nmanuel baptismal dates for September. They're progressing so well
and already have that desire to be baptized and have the full support
they need! The family is so wonderful and I just love teaching them.
The Solorzano family took them to the temple on Sunday and they were
sad that we weren't there with them haha. They like doing things with
us it's funny, but they had a wonderful time there as a family. I'm
glad the branch is helping us out so much. Our bishop finally came
back with his family! It was nice to see President Bair again and we
got to tell him everything that's happened since he was gone.

So this month nobody has decided to feed us so we've been scrambling
with our food haha. We actually had Brother Ivancich and his wife take
us out to dinner last week. They live in the fancy area in El Dorado
Hills so they took us out to a really good place called Sellans. The
meal was like almost $100! It was crazy! Haha it was weird having
dinner with English members but a great experience. They also gave us
a lot of their groceries too because they left on a trip haha. We were
blessed so much from them!
I've been blessed with the gift of tongues and gift of the spirit this
past week. My Spanish has gotten so much better through my hard work.
It's finally paying off! Every time we've just found someone on the
street and contacted them, they get confused and surprised when I
start speaking Spanish. It's the funniest thing ever! I'm grateful for
the lords hand in my life and I love this work! Have a blessed week
everyone and love you all so much! Te amo muchisimo!

August 8, 2016
Hola Hermanas y Hermanos,
This week we've experienced some trials and some great miracles. Since
we have 3 investigators on date, Satan is just trying to get to them
right before their baptismal dates😒 But, doesn't stop us from trying
even harder! So prayers would be great for these individuals.

Felipe is doing great, we usually have a couple of lessons with him
every week. It makes it even better that he lives with members, so we
always have a member present lesson with him.😊 He's been doing
wonderful with everything and has a strong testimony of the gospel,
but of course Satan tries to deceive him. We have a lesson with him
tonight and we're going to talk about his baptism because he doesn't
feel ready now and feels like he doesn't know enough. We're going to
do some of the baptismal questions with him and see if he REALLY knows
everything...which I believe he does. He has a great support system
and he just needs to see the Lord blessing him in his life. I know and
I have the faith that he'll get baptized August 20th. 👍🏼

Luis is doing good, slowly progressing right now. At first he was
pretty strong on his testimony but now he's a little unsure on
baptism, he feels nervous for it and feels he needs to know
everything. But the lessons have been great with him! And he's willing
to keep our commitments too. One thing we realized with him is that he
just needs that social conversion. He needs more friends in the branch
and it's hard because he's young but doesn't want to go to YSA because
it's English not Spanish. So we're going to try to get him more
involved.

A blessing we've seen this week is the Andasol family. The part member
family from El Salvador. They are literally the BEST family ever!
We've seen their testimonies grow ever since we found them and started
teaching them. They came to church again and are really enjoying it.
The daughter Samira is loving young women's and is doing her personal
progress! She loves it! Both Enmanuel and Samira are progressing and
have both accepted to be baptized. We haven't given a date yet, but
also Enmanuel wants to serve a mission! He remembered the Meet the
Mormons movie a few weeks ago and the last clip is the missionary one
and he just really wants to serve! Tender mercy right there! We got to
make Papusas with the mom Maria this past week as well and it was
awesome! I'm becoming a pro at making Papusas now😉 Sunday night they
had us over for dinner and it was so good! We just tell stories and
laugh so much with them, which is so different from before because
they were so quiet! I sang for them too and they loved it haha they
want to have my autograph and they say when I'm famous they want VIP
tickets front row haha😂😂 I just love this family and could go on and
on about them. So they're doing really well and are really progressing
thanks to the branch.

One struggle we've had is that we haven't had a bishop or a ward
mission leader this whole transfer...yeah try to imagine that. We've
been working our butts off without them haha😂 it's definitely a lot
harder to work without the correct keys in the area. it's been a
stuggle for sure, but we've been trying the best we can. Our branch
has definitely worked a lot harder than ever before since the bishop
and Ward mission leader aren't here to help out.

So it's been a great week overall. I got to have lunch with my 1st
cousin Pat and his family this past week. It was great seeing them for
the first time! We went to Macaroni Grill and got to talk about my
family. President Jardine also came over to our apartment this week to
bless our home because it hasn't been feeling good there recently. I'm
grateful for the lords hand in my life and that he has blessed us with
our investigators that we have. I love you all and I hope you all have
a good week. This Saturday is transfer calls so I will find out if I'm
staying or going. I hope to stay here at least one more transfer so I
can be here for my birthday and because I love this area so much and I
don't wanna leave! So next pday will be Tuesday next week😊 Adios!

August 1, 2016
It's August already!!! Time has gone by way fast! Today has been kind
of a crazy week. Lots of sickness going around here and so it hasn't
been good. We've been having a lot of ICE lessons...which means a
lesson that is at a members home or at the church building and the
investigator has to have a baptismal date or needs to be invited in
that lesson and accept it. Also a member has to be present in the
lesson. We've had like 3 this week and it's been great! The members
are really getting involved and I see the difference in these ICE
lessons then in regular lessons. The spirit is so much stronger and
they're just really good lessons.

We had district meeting and talked a lot about the Atonement of our
Savior Jesus Christ. We did role plays with each other and I was put
with one of our zone leaders Elder Bingham. It was great doing a
lesson with him and I received revelation for our investigator! I
don't love role plays, but I do think they help in preparing for the
real lesson with the investigator. We had to read a talk by Jeffrey R.
Holland on Missionary work and the Atonement. I loved that talk. It's
from the Ensign March 2011 if you want to read it...actually I invite
you all to read it! It's a great talk on how we can do missionary
work. Also our zone and district made some goals for next month for
baptisms. As a companionship, our goal is 4 baptisms! We really want
to work hard this month! We know that 4 of our investigators are ready
to enter into the waters of baptism for the month of August. Our
district goal is 5 and our zone goal is 6. Me and Hermana Justiniano
have 3 investigators on date right now which is really exciting! We
have Luis, Felipe for August 20th and Guillermo for August 27! Such
exciting things are coming I can feel it 😊

So something exciting happened...we found Guillermo again! He came
back from Mexico finally! He's such a good guy and wants to be
baptized. He came to church and felt the spirit so strong❤️ He's such
a cute little old Spanish guy haha. We are excited for him👍🏼😊 Luis
is doing good, came to church as well and is really liking the gospel
more and more every day. He has a lot of faith too. Felipe is just
wonderful! He's always at church and at all the activities. Loves our
lessons and is just really great. He prayed about his baptismal date
and is excited! We love him and all of our investigators. I also had
exchanges this week with my "grandma", Hermana Stevens and it was fun!
By Grandma I mean that she was my trainers trainer. Our dinner
cancelled so I took her to Panera...my favorite place!❤️ We also had
this crazy lesson with this guy who pretty much bashed us and said
that we are all not children of God and that because me and Hermana
Stevens are young we don't the truth of of God and stuff. He was
really rude to us and he's the first person that's ever made me mad.
It was just really sad and he did not want to accept the Book of
Mormon at all and wouldn't let us pray at the end because apparently
we have to pray for an hour or else God won't want to listen to us?😂
Silly crazy guy he was. I'll have that memory forever! Lol.

This week all of us in our apartment got a little heat exhaustion
because it was HOT this week. I had to be home one night with Sister
Hyde while my companion went out with Sister Baul. We've been drinking
a lot of Powerade and pedialyte recently haha. Overall everything is
going pretty good. I've never been so tired on my mission though! All
this work is making us tired all the time. But, this week we're gonna
try to be better with being focused and eating right to stay
energized. I just love my companion❤️ The thing I love about Hermana
Justiniano is how loving she is. She has a big heart for everyone and
I love that about her. She's so funny and kind and is just wonderful
to be around. She helps me want to be a better missionary.

Well, I hope you all had a great week full of missionary
opportunities! Always find those missionary moments in your
life...pray for them and seek to help heavenly fathers children come
back to him. I love you all and have a terrific week!

July 25, 2016

Hola buenas dias,
This week went by way too fast! My testimony grows every day through
missionary work. I just see the lords hand blessing the Spanish
culture here in Rancho Cordova. Here's what happened this week:
We saw a less active named Chris Nuñez and he's a good guy. He knows
this church is true but he just needs to take action! He's been away
from it so long that he feels scared to go now. I sang phantom of the
opera for him since he wanted to hear me sing haha. I've sang for so
many people this week! It's been fun...manly because Hermana
Justiniano tells everyone I sing so they want to hear me sing haha.
We saw Elsa and her kids this week and I sang a bunch of Disney songs
for the kids and they loved it. They were so happy and dancing and it
was just really fun!😝❤️ This week we had interviews with President
and it was wonderful! I love president Jardine so much! He always
wants to help me with anything and is so loving. He says that I look
like a wonderful missionary and that I have a light that he sees in my
eyes that touches his heart. I love that man haha. He says everything
about me has changed since my first interview and that I have a lot
more confidence. So that was great! I always love seeing president and
sister Jardine.
The Mather sisters who live with us almost got their bikes stolen one
night. The neighbor caught them trying to take them off their bike
rack and shooed him away. So the lord is looking out for them for
sure! But they found out that their lights on their bikes got stolen😕
there's crazy people out there! One night before bed us four sisters
played bean boozled and it was gross but really fun! Us four have a
lot of fun in our apartment! I love it!❤️❤️
This week Sister Baul, from the Philippines, got sick and so one
night sister Hyde and I went out to teach together since she had been
inside like all day and she wanted to go out. So Hermana Justiniano
stayed with sister Baul and sister Hyde and I went to go proselyting.
It was way fun! We made a lot of videos this week...we've been into
Christmas music for some reason😝😂
Something that I studied in my personal studies this week is
Humility. I don't really apply humility as much as I want to. So, I
made it a goal for me to use it more this week in my studies and
teachings. I love Ether 12:27 where it says that if we are humble them
God will make "weak things become strong." I have had a really good
week this past week and I can't believe it's almost August! I love the
work. Adios!
