Buenos Dias a todos!!

This week went a little bit better :) We were able to have a lot more lessons with our investigators!! We have been working with Bertin, who has a date for the 29th of April now. He is on vacation to Mexico for Spring Break so we won't be able to teach him this week. So we had to push his date a week back because we still need to teach him some stuff. He's doing awesome though, the only thing is that we haven't been able to contact the parents to find out if it's okay for him to get baptized. Hopefully by next week we can chat with them and invite them to the lessons as well. Please pray that all of that will work out for us!! He really wants to get baptized! :)

We found 4 new investigators this week which is AWESOME! All of them are investigators who were released before. Their names are Raul, Jose, David and also for some reason in our area book it counted Bertin. But, he's basically already our investigator. So anyways, we have been working with these guys and we are excited for them. Raul is an investigator who we released about a month and a half ago. We taught him Sunday and he just loves us so much. He calls us his "angelitas" which just means little angels haha. He really wants to read the Book of Mormon and come to church, he just needs to start taking action. That's kind of been a struggle for us and our investigators...they are SUPER AWESOME but they don't keep commitments, so then we end up releasing them. But, we have FAITH that it'll all work out with our investigators :)

We've also been working with a lady named Maria(very typical.lol), but she's really cool. She loves the story of Joseph Smith. We read the Introduction to the Book of Mormon with her and she really liked it. She knows that she has to find out for herself that it's true, so that's what we invited her to do. Our next step is to get her to pray with us and have her come to church. We have a return appointment for Tuesday so we are hoping that it turns out.

Friday we had Zone Training and we focused on Accountability and Praying with Faith. We also focused on reporting and follow up with our mission leaders and how we can do better at that. We also had to wear tennis shoes to the zone training for a little analogy of how we should be RUNNING to do the work! Just like in one of the conference talks from this past conference where the ladies in the family history center were wearing tennis shoes so that they could do the work faster and more efficient. We related that to wearing our tennis shoes and striving to run and do the work. It was weird wearing tennis shoes with church clothes though...haha.

Wednesday I was on team-ups with Hermana Paredes and we had fun. We didn't find anyone new though...we did however talk to a lot of dogs! lol. We also visited a member named SanJuana who we visit every week. Saturday my companion was sick with a virus all day so I basically did nothing that day haha. It was nice to get a break, but as a missionary you can't really do much.

Sunday we had an Easter celebration because next sunday will be stake conference. So Me, Hermana Hernandez and the Spanish elders did a musical number of Where Can I Turn For Peace? and it was great! We also sang in the choir too and did a song for that. Me and Hermana Hernandez are singing for Zone Conference this week on Wednesday so I'm excited for that, our song sounds so good! All in Spanish too ;) Which is the best :D

Hope you all are enjoying spring break and spending time with family. Let us remember that Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer of the world. He resurrected on the third day and he lives! I'm so grateful for the promise our Heavenly Father has made for us that we will all be resurrected again! I love this gospel and the plan that God has for me. I know that Jesus Christ is central to that plan. I love Him and Praise him. I leave this with you in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Hermana Scott

Here's a good quote one of our Zone leaders shared with us this week.

  • "You were once a general in the war in heaven and one day, when you are again in the spirit world, you will be enthralled with those you will associate with.  You will ask someone in which period they lived in and you might hear, "I was with Moses when he parted the Red Sea," or, "I helped build the pyramids," or, "I fought with Captain Moroni." As you are standing there in amazement someone will turn to you and ask, "Which of the Prophets' time did you live in?"

Good morning everyone!

Hope everyone had a wonderful General Conference! I know I did, it was
just what I needed! My favorite session was Saturday afternoon when
Elder Holland and Elder Ballard spoke. Their talks really stood out to
me and I just really felt that what they talked about are things that
I need to do, especially about goals and planning. We do that all the
time as missionaries, but I've never really set life goals and plans
so I'm hoping to start that sometime this week😊 Also I really loved
the talk by Elder Cortes on investigators, I think it really applied
to missionary work really well, i can't wait to share it with some of
our investigators! I loved his testimony especially. There were so
many great talks though! I really needed to hear them this week.

The start of the week was a little rough for me, this has probably
been one of my hardest weeks on the mission. I've noticed that I've
been down a lot lately and I got some help for it. So hopefully little
by little I will get better. I hit my 13 month mark yesterday! So
crazy how fast time is going! I love my mission so much. I'm so
excited that it's April already so that we have the chance to
celebrate Easter, the resurrection of Jesus Christ! I'm not sure if
you all have seen the new Easter video called #PrinceofPeace yet, but
if you haven't you should! It's so good and simple, that's what I love
about it. You can truly invite the spirit when you share it...so
invite all of you to share the video with anyone in your life who made
need some Peace, which really I believe is all of us! This world
really needs some peace right now. I'm so grateful for these messages
we are able to share with using technology😄 what a blessing we have
in our mission to do so!

The only person that we are really working with a lot right now is
Bertin. We really weren't able to meet with him a lot because of
soccer practice. Satan is really just trying to work hard with our
investigators lol. It sucks, BUT we are NOT giving up! Bertin will get
baptized! I truly feel and believe he will, he has such a true desire
to follow Christ and be baptized. He prays and reads and is such a
good kid. We just got to teach him more. But we contacted him
yesterday finally and set an appointment for Tuesday through Facebook.
We are excited for him. Elk Grove is really trying to find some of
Gods children who are ready to enter into the waters of baptism! Our
goal as a zone is to invite 365 people to baptism by the end of the
transfer...which is only 3 weeks! But I have faith that we can do it!
I love the mission so much. Although I've had some trials this week, I
know that my purpose is to invite others to come unto Christ. Thanks
for all of your love and support! Have a wonderful week! Les quiero!❤

Hey everyone!

Well, we have certainly had a crazy week. With moving into a new apartment complex and unpacking all of our stuff, and then a few days later the Bed Bug guys came and we had to put everything into trash bags...it was crazy. So we are finally settled in now in our new apartment with our Sister training leaders and we are already having so much fun together :) Well, obviously because they were both my companions before :) haha. Anyways, so yeah, life was crazy this week, but the Lord blessed us with some miracles!

Our investigator Johnny progressed a bit this past week. We were able to have a lesson with him and taught the Restoration. We really focused on Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon. We shared a clip of the first vision with him. He doesn't truly believe that that happened yet, but we invited him to pray about it and to really start reading in the Book of Mormon to find his answers because he hadn't read. So he knew what he had to do. We felt the need to invite him to baptism and he has a date for April 22!! He was super excited for it and totally agreed. It was an amazing moment for me and Hermana Hernandez. So we've tried to keep in contact with him to set another appointment, and this morning he called us and told us sort of bad news. Apparently his wife doesn't like us coming over all the time and that we might have to meet somewhere else and not meet up as much...which really we only see him once a week. So we are gonna try to figure out really what's going on, because we don't want to give up on him!! He's GOLDEN!! I know he will be baptized, he really has that desire. So we could possible be switching him to the spanish elders if it happens to be that she just doesn't like sisters to come over. We will see...please pray for Johnny and his family!!

Then we have another great investigator named Bertin. He's 16 years old and such a great kid! He was a referral back in the summer and the hermana's started teaching him and he was golden...but he got busy with soccer all the time so they had to release him. So, I found him again in the Area Book and we stopped by 2 weeks ago and met him a few times but he was busy. Then we set up an appointment on Friday and he was there ready with his Book of Mormon. We reviewed the Plan of Salvation and Restoration with him. He was in Ether 4 and had continued reading from the Book of Mormon since the old sisters gave it to him!!! LIKE WHAT?! He says he loves it and that it brings him peace in his life! It was so awesome to hear his testimony of the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith!! I was seriously mind blown. We immediately extended a baptismal date for April 22 and he said YES! He says he is SO EXCITED! We are too! The Lord really does bless us. I'm so glad that we are starting to see the fruits of our labors here in Elk Grove.

We had exchanges on Saturday and I was with "mi mama" in the mission, Hermana Woodbury. It was our last exchange together!!! Ahh, so crazy. But, we had an awesome time together riding bikes and talking with everyone! She is one awesome mission and is so loving to everyone that we meet. I really enjoyed talking with people on the street and just being bold and loving. We met a few interesting and funny people, but also some solid people who were really interested!! I love missionary work!

I was excited to watch the general women's conference on Saturday. I enjoyed the talks very well and it just got me excited for General Conference this next weekend. I JUST LOVE CONFERENCE!! I love hearing from the prophet and the other general authorities. What a privileged we have as members to listen from a living prophet and his apostles! I hope you are all preparing yourselves with questions in mind, I know I will :)

I hope you all know that I love you, and that I'm so grateful to be a part of this latter-day work. It truly is a blessing. I will hit 13 months this week and it just BLOWS my mind how fast the time is flying by! I love every second of my mission though. Les quiero mucho! Have a good week!

Hola!!!

So this week we had a lot of miracles happen to us! It was awesome because we had been praying for miracles so much because we didn't really have any investigators. First off, we had a wonderful member present lesson with Johnny. A recent convert, Siggy, came with us and did an awesome job of testifying! We taught the plan of salvation and tied it into the Book of Mormon and how we can find our answers if we search the Book of Mormon and pray. He understood our lesson pretty well and committed to read from the beginning, because when we went to the lesson he had just opened up to Alma and read a chapter in it and LOVED IT! It was so awesome! He has a sincere desire to learn more...we are excited for him. This week we should be having another lesson, please pray that Johnny will be able to go to church :)

Our district is now a little bit different. We have the STL's and spanish elders and Elk Grove Park elders with us now. We had a great district meeting on charity and love. Elder Hoskin, our district leader, tied it into the Good Samaritan and how we shouldn't just pass people on the street...we should love them as a child of God and talk to them!! So we did some role plays where we had to pretend to be a mean investigator, it was fun lol. But, it does happen like all the time! But, it's so much easier to teach with charity because everyone is our brother or sister. Also, on Saturday we had a district 'blitz' in our area where all the other missionaries work in our area with us. So we had 5 sets of missionaries in our area! It was awesome. I was with Sister Munk and we found a new investigator named Juan. He doesn't really have a religion or belief in anything, but was open to receiving a Book of Mormon and having us come back! The other missionaries also found 2 more new investigators for us! Super awesome. We have return appointments with all of them so hopefully they all work out!

Sunday none of our investigators came to church. That's been the hardest for us these past few weeks...but we're not giving up! Sunday I gave a talk on a talk given a few years ago called (When you save a girl, you save generations). I really enjoyed giving a talk, and I enjoyed reading that talk because it talks a lot about not giving up and keep pressing forward to do the right things, like reading and praying. Also so that we can receive the covenants and blessings God has given us!

Well, some things got switched around with the missionaries, so this morning we had to move next door to the apartment where our STL's (Hermana Woodbury and Hermana Paredes) live! I'm so excited to live with them :) I just love them. Also, I got my hair done today (finally) and I cut a few inches off...It was time for a change :) Love you all and have a good week!!

Hello!!! Buenas Tardes!

This week went by pretty well. We were able to contact one of the potentials in our area book that we've been trying to find for 2 weeks! We had a prompting to try and find him and we finally did! His name is Johnny and he's super awesome! He remembers the elders teaching him like 2 years ago and he really liked it a lot. He even still has a Book of Mormon, but didn't know where it was so we gave him a new one. He had a lot of questions for us and we were able to answer most of them. He just seems really confused about things in the Bible. So we are gonna study some stuff for him to answer his questions for next time. But, we were able to testify of The Book of Mormon and taught some of the Plan of Salvation. We hope he will start progressing a little this week as we go to teach him again. He has a true desire to learn though so we are excited.

We also found a few new investigators who we've just had little contact with, but this week we have return appointments with them. So, we hope that we can really get to know them more and contact them. We also had our 5-week new missionary meeting and we talked a lot about bearing testimony frequently, asking for referrals and teaching with the Book of Mormon. I learned a lot about being a trainer and how I don't need to be perfect. I will make mistakes sometimes. But, it was a reassurance that I just need to do the best that I can and help Hermana Hernandez in whatever way that I can :) We also did some role plays on teaching and testifying using the Book of Mormon and we were able to put that into our work this week in our finding efforts. It's helped us become more motivated!! We have had some awesome contacts with people on the street and on the Doors that we knock on. I've felt the spirit more in our work more recently and its drives me to just find more people.

One experience we had yesterday was we were walking in one of our areas, finding potentials, and we met a guy named Mitchell who wasn't interested at all. So, we just kept working and finding, but a little while later Hermana Hernandez had a spiritual prompting to go back and visit him again. So, we did! We actually started talking to his wife about the Book fo Mormon and testified of it. She seemed to be interested and we testified that God is our Heavenly Father and that he loves each and every one of us. It was great to see the Lord's hand in this work. They spoke English so we referred them to the English elders, but it was a great learning experience for us!

So transfer calls came! Me and Hermana Hernandez are staying together again here in Elk Grove in the Sacramento 10th branch. I love it here! I figured we'd stay together so I can finish training her. We are excited for this next transfer and to really start finding some people who are ready to act on our message! I love this great work that we are doing!! Today on transfer p-day we were able to go to the temple! Can I just say how much I love being in the temple?! I love being able to feel the spirit there. I love being so close to one as well...we are really priveledged here as Sacramento California missionaries. Well, I hope you all are enjoying your week! I know I am with this beautiful weather. The work is just so much better when the sun is shining :) Les quiero mucho!

Hola!!!

Well, this week has been good. It's been raining so much. Last p-day our zone had an activity where we played minute-to-win-it games. It was a lot of fun...felt like we were working as a team and I got to know the missionaries here more. Valentine's day was good, me and Hermana Hernandez had our 2-week new missionary meeting and I got to learn a lot as we separated into trainers and trainees. I learned a lot of new things from the other trainers. We did a bunch of role plays of inviting people to baptism. It was fun!

We had a really awesome lesson with Juan and Rosa on Tuesday. We read in 3 Nephi 11 and explained repentance and baptism to them. An RM from the YSA ward came with us because he just got back from serving in Mexico and he was an awesome member present! I learned a lot from his teaching. He was very bold and friendly with our investigators. It was awesome. Unfortunately, they cancelled our return apt. with them on Thursday and we haven't been able to find them since then. We brought Levi(RM) with us to a lesson on Saturday but Raul wasn't there, so we went knocking on doors and just talking to people. It was a lot of fun! We found this cool lady named Rosa who is very religious, but has a lot of faith. She was super open with us and we got a return appointment for this week. Hope that it actually goes through!!!

We also met a new guy named Crispin. He's pretty cool and we found him in our area book because he was released a while ago so we went to go see if he was home and he was! We talked about how he was reading the book of mormon and how he loved reading it. We talked about the Restoration too and we have a return appointment for tonight! He seems pretty cool and we hope that we can help him progress. Recently we've been given a lot of referrals, so we are in the process of finding and working with them.

Everything is going great though. Life is good...mission is great. I'm learning day by day and applying what I learn. I've really enjoyed training and I'm learning a lot from her. She's so awesome!!! Well, I hope you all have a fantastic week! Also, I got sent a package with 2 scarves the other day from Turkey...so I have no idea who could have sent me that so if you did, please let me know and thanks so much!! Tengan un buen dia!! Adios

Hola!!
Well, this week we had a few meeting that went pretty well. First
off, we had interviews with President and that is always a good time.
I just love President so much...he's so kind and has a powerful
testimony of the gospel. He's helped me out so much on my mission.
Also I love Sister Jardine, we have the greatest conversations
together about the work and home. We also had Zone Training from the
zone leaders and sister training leaders who did a fantastic job, like
always. I always like learning new things about how to do the work
better and more efficient. There's always room for improvement! We
talked a lot about personal feeling, personal understanding and
personal testimony and some missionaries did some role plays to
demonstrate all of those. Me and Hermana Hernandez were the last ones
chosen to do a role play in front of everyone and it went really well!
We did great in bearing testimony and helping the investigator feel
the power that we have as representatives of Jesus Christ.

We also had team-ups with our sister training leaders and I was with
my mom Hermana Woodbury. We took a picture this time! It felt like we
were back in Rancho again👌🏼😁 We miss it so much! Haha. But, Hermana
Hernandez was with Hermana Paredes and when we came back to switch, my
companion had an accident while on team ups! A dog bit her on the
arm!! 😱 It was a puppy that just wanted to play I guess and bit her
on the arm. Nothing too deep though...I was glad that it wasn't too
bad. We had to call the lady and ask if her dog had rabies and
everything lol. But, she's all good, she's tough👍🏼

We had 2 great lessons on Saturday with Raul and Rosa and Juan, our
investigators on date for baptism. Raul is going through some hard
trials right now with family and Heath issues. We had the Anguianos
there with us for the lesson as we taught the Restoration and helped
him understand personal revelation and how important prayer is. He
said he was glad that we came over and helped him feel better about
everything. He just has worries about his mom. With Juan and Rosa we
taught them the plan of salvation and focused on the Atonement and
Jesus Christ because they understand who he is, but not really what he
did or what he does now. They didn't know what the Atonement was so we
explained that to them. They had a lot of questions for us so we were
able to answer them with the spirit.

It was raining like ALL week long...and so it started flooding really
bad...especially in the Wilton area. We couldn't even get to our
branch President's house because the roads were flooded and closed
off. I attached the video we made during the week when that happened.
I wish I took pictures of the flooding though...it was bad! Well, the
weather is nicer now, sunny and clear so I hope it stays this way for
a while. I'm so grateful for the members in this area who are so
loving and are willing to feed us. Such a blessing we have as
missionaries to get to know the members of this wonderful church. I
love you all and hope you stay warm or dry! Les quiero mucho! Hasta
luego!

HOLA!!!

Buenas Tardes a todos! Well, this first week of the new transfer has been amazing so far. It's been a little crazy with training and learning how to use the new missionary schedule while training is different, but a great experience. We have more free time to do what we need to do in the day...especially on p-day! It's so nice to start p-day at 8am instead of 10am! Those extra two hours help a lot! Training a new missionary has been good. My trainee is very good at teaching the gospel!! I was surprised at first honestly but I've realized that the reason she teaches so well is because she always has the spirit with her.

This week we visited a lot of members to get them to know Hermana Hernandez more. We actually were able to teach some of the members as well and those lessons went really well. I just love the members here in Sacramento 10th branch. They're all so humble and kind to us. Wednesday we had an all day training with all the trainers and trainees. It was really good. My favorite part was the training from President Martinez on 12-week...which is now only 30 mins instead of and hour each day. I learned that no matter what, the most important thing on the mission is having a good relationship with your companion. I've learned that a lot of my mission. Although there may be times where you and your companion don't get along, the work is so much easier and better when you and your companion are getting along and have a good relationship. I've learned that myself from experience. I always try to love my companions and learn to forgive and forget. It's so much harder to work when you and your companion don't get along. The spirit needs to abide always so that the spirit can testify to the investigators of the things you're teaching are true.

Saturday was just an amazing day! We had 2 miracle lessons taught that day! We taught our new investigators Juan and Rosa about the Restoration and baptism and focused on the Book of Mormon as well. The spirit was so strong and Hermana Hernandez invided them to be baptized March 4th! They accepted the date and so we're working hard with them to get them to church and prepare for March 4th. We have a lesson planned for tonight and a member couple is coming with us...so hopefully it'll be a great lesson! Also, we had a wonderful lesson with our other investigator Raul. I was about to give up on him because we have been trying for weeks to get a hold of him but no luck. But, on Saturday we found him and finished teaching the plan of salvation with him and invited him to be baptized February 25th and he accepted the date! He's really wanting to change and likes anything that'll make him feel happy. He's gonna try to come to church this next Sunday to see what it's like.

We are so excited for our progressing investigators with baptismal dates. I'm so grateful to be a part of this latter-day work. I've seen so many miracles on my mission and I'm so glad for the many wonderful experiences I've had here in Sacramento. I love my mission so much. I hope you all have a fantastic week and remember that our Heavenly Father loves and knows each one of you personally. I can testify that that is true. Les quiero mucho!

HOLA EVERYONE!!

Well, this last week was pretty bittersweet with my companion, Hermana Justiniano, as she left me for home on Friday. The week went really well as we went biking a lot and found some new investigators! I always think that biking is not gonna be effective...but it actually was!! And it happened to be really nice outside when we were biking...so yeah, blessings!! It didn't feel real to watch my companion go to the mission office and leave me...I kept thinking that they day would come but not so soon! It was weird and as we both new that it was time to go we bawled our eyes out! I've never cried for any companion like I did for her. I will forever cherish the wonderful memories and experiences that we had together. I love that girl so much and I'm excited for her new adventures and just forever be friends!! That's one thing that I love about the mission is that you become friends with everyone, especially your companions. You just end up loving them so much. My last companion, Hermana Zaugg went home as well which was sad to see 2 of my companions go home!! Everything was very bittersweet for sure. I will miss them but I know that we'll def hang out after the mission :) Can't wait for that!
Anyways...so yeah our teaching pool is now just new investigators that we are trying to just have lessons with. We have a guy named Martin who is pretty cool. We keep having to reschedule with him but tonight we have a lesson...so I hope it all works out! :) Over the weekend I was companions with Sister Moffett because her companion went home too, so I got to be in English work for a few days! It was definitely different but really cool to see. They also work in YSA so it was different going to her ward and seeing all these young people...I felt like I was back home in YSA again lol. But, it was a neat experience and I had a lot of fun with her!

Now for the most exciting part of this email...I got called to train this transfer!!! Yay I'm offically a "mom" now :) Yesterday I got my "baby" and her name is Hermana Hernandez Rivera. She's super cool, kinda shy, but is really sweet. She's from Monterrey, Mexico...so she speaks Spanish fluently! So cool! I feel we are going to get along just great as I help her understand the mission field life and help her adjust to what we do as missionaries. The members are already starting to love her already! I know that she will be a great blessing in this area and I hope we can work together to help this branch. It's weird being the missionary who knows more on the mission...because all of my past companions have been one's who've been on the mission for a while. So, this'll be a whole new experience for me...but I'm so excited! We were able to take pictures at the Sacramento Temple and it was so fun.

Hope you all know that I love you and how grateful I am for your examples in my life. I am enjoying EVERY minute of my mission. I'm hitting 11 months on Thursday which is SO WEIRD....time is going by fast. I only have 7 months left? what??! lol. Now when people ask how long I've been on this mission and I tell them 11 months they're like..."oh, so you're almost done!" and I'm like "NO, I still have time!!!" haha. It's crazy...seriously time goes by so fast on the mission. But, it's fun at the same time. Well, I hope you all have a great week. Until next time! Les quiero mucho!
