How has your everyone been? My week went by so fast...like always. So
yeah I'm emailing today because we had transfer calls on Saturday so
when we have transfers we move p-day to Tuesday. It was weird not
having it on Monday but it's all good.
Tuesday I had my 5-week meeting with the newbies who came with me and
their companions. It was a really good meeting and I asked some good
questions. The meeting was super long though! It took up almost our
whole day! We also got a new assistant his name is Elder Gammel and
really nice and helpful. We also taught an old guy named Guillermo and
he's so slow and talks FOREVER about random stuff. He always cuts into
when we are talking about the gospel and will just talk about
something completely random like making chicken or the Fourth of July
or something. It gets annoying but we got to see him a few more times
this week and the lessons are getting better. We took a funny pic of
him in Hermana Woodbury's glasses haha. He's so funny. That night we
ate with the Serrano family whom I love so much! The husband is
seriously so famous in Mexico! He's like approved on Facebook and
Twitter with a blue check mark. He writes songs and people in other
countries sing them and play them on the radio. He also has a YouTube
channel and makes money from it because he has so many followers! It's
crazy! Haha. He's so awesome.
Wednesday was good. We some some investigators in Folsom and taught
them some lessons. One guy named Hilario we just started talking to
him and I taught him the whole restoration by myself and it was like I
had done this my whole life or something. It was amazing to me haha. I
could understand him and just talk to him about the gospel. It was a
great lesson! We also taught Lupe! She's awesome and she knows this
gospel is true...but she has to go to church or she can't get
baptized. It's hard because she lives far from the church building and
nobody in the family wants to take her😕 So that's a problem we're
facing with her.
Thursday we had our last district meeting with Elder Craig and Elder
Webber. Also it was Elder Flinks birthday so they brought us cake and
ice cream. I love the elderly couple missionaries ❤️ We went to talk
to a guy named Berto and we ended up dropping him because he's been
meeting with Jehovah's Witnesses and is gonna get baptized in their
church so sad.
Friday we just had service at the Food Bank which is always fun. Then
we did Weekly planning and then had dinner at the Lopez families
house! They brought us Chinese food and it was so good. They're
a wonderful family❤️ Then we ended our night with talking to
Alejandro! He's so awesome I love talking with him! His roommate also
joined in on the conversation too which was nice. We hadn't seen
Alejandro in so long so it was nice to catch up with him and see how
he's doing.
Saturday we just did a lot of finding and tried talking to a lot of
people who we wanted to see. A lot of them weren't home though and
that always stinks. We tried finding Hilario again but he didn't
answer the door. Me and Hermana Woodbury went to Smashburger for
dinner over in Folsom and I had never been before but it was really
good! She loves it there. Then that night we had transfer calls and of
course me and Hermana Woodbury are staying ❤️ But, we think next
transfer Hermana Woodbury is gonna leave because she's been in this
area Rancho Cordova for 7 months already! Her whole mission she's been
here. We also think she's gonna go to North Sac and be a Sister
Training Leader she does not want to be one lol. It's a lot of
work to be an STL, let alone a leader in general! But, sister Munk who
lives in our house left to East Sac yesterday I'll miss her!
Sunday was a good Sunday. Our zone leader came to our ward with Elder
Ortega. None of our investigators came...so sad that's the biggest
struggle is getting people to church! It's very frustrating! Other
than that the mission has been great and awesome! I love it!
Monday(yesterday) was an eventful day. We had to say goodbye to
Sister Munk. Then me and Hermana Woodbury decided to go biking for
the first time together! It was good and not as bad as I thought it
was going to be. The weather was perfect and although we didn't have
much time we still got to see some people. So on our way back home
Hermana Woodbury goes up a curb onto a sidewalk, so I decide to do the
same. But, I didn't angle my bike right and it skids on the curb and I
biff off the bike and fall right on the sidewalk. My knee and leg is
all scarred up now haha. I'm so embarrassing haha. My first day too
of biking! So we get back to our house with my leg bleeding and we
realized that we left the keys in the house...and all of the
missionaries were gone doing transfers. So we had to go to the
apartment office and get a spare key. Yeah it sucked. Haha. After that
we taught Guillermo and then tried finding other people. Nobody was
really interested but they were nice to talk to! Also, I got a call
and my mission debit card had been used all over the US and so all my
money is gone for the rest of the month. I had to cut it up and I have
to wait for a new card for 2 weeks. Then we had dinner with the
Macias and they made us little tacos in homemade taco shells! It was
good. So although I myself had a really bad, struggle day, I still was
happy surprisingly! Haha that's what the mission does for ya!
Thank you all for reading my emails every week! I love sharing what
I've been doing it helps me recognize the many spiritual and hard
moments I have throughout the week! I read Elder Dieter F. Utchdorfs
talk this week from this past conference and I loved reading it over.
It's such a good talk and it helped me recognize the Lords hand in my
life and how this gospel has blessed me. I love the work. Thanks and
Have a great week!
Love,
Hermana Scott
